1. Do not offer Basil leaves

Tulsi is most loved by Lord Vishnu but Goddess Lakshmi is estranged from Tulsi as she is the consort of Shaligram, another form of Lord Vishnu. Thus, Tulsi is the sister of Goddess Lakshmi. Therefore Tulsi should not be offered in the worship of Goddess Lakshmi.

2. Do not place the lamp to the left

To worship Goddess Lakshmi, the lamp's wick should be red in color. Keep the lamp on the right side. The lamp should not be placed on the left side. The reason for this is that Lord Vishnu is the form of fire and light.
