Get Your Ring Size Right

You don't need to visit a jeweler to find your ring size. With using a string, a ring that already fits, or our printable sizer, you can easily find out your ring size in just 5 minutes.

No Tools? No Problem, Do This.

Method 1: The String or Paper Trick

Don't have a ring that already fits that finger? This method can help you.

Step one, wrap it around.

Grab a thin strip of paper or a piece of string that doesn't stretch. Wrap it around the base of your finger so it gets comfortably fitted and stays in place without pinching your skin.

Step two, mark the spot.

Mark where the strip meets itself with a pen and then lay it flat.

Step three, measure it.

Use a ruler to measure from the start of the strip to your mark in millimeters. That's your finger's circumference.

Step four, find your size.

Take the measure and divide it by 3.14 to get the width. Then, match it to the size conversion chart to get the perfect Indian ring size.

Method 2

Already Own a Ring That Fits? Here's Your Easiest Shortcut

Got a ring that already fits well? Use that instead to avoid guessing the size and worrying about swelling.

1First, pick the right ring.

It needs to be worn on the same finger you're buying for. Sizes differ between fingers, even on the same hand.

2Then, measure the inside.

Lay the ring flat on a surface. Use a ruler to measure the edges and inside area in millimeters. You can also place it over a printed circle chart until it lines up just right. That number is your diameter.

3Last, check the chart.

Match your diameter to the chart below to find your size.

Small Things That Matter

☀Room temperature works best.

Heat makes fingers swell a little. Cold shrinks them. Measure the size at normal room temperature. It is advised to avoid it right after exercise, a hot shower, or being outside in winter.

🕑Evening is the best time.

Fingers are usually the biggest by the end of the day. Measure them at this time of the day so your ring doesn't feel tight later.

✋Measure two or three times.

Don't trust the size with just one try. Measure a few times and go with the number that repeats most.

💎Wide or chunky bands need extra space.

A wider band feels tighter than a thin one, even at the same size. For bands wider than 6mm, make sure to consider half a size for the designs.

A few things to avoid:

  • Make sure your finger isn't too cold or swollen when measuring, or you may get the wrong size.
  • Don't use a ring worn on a different finger than the one you're buying for.
  • Stuck between two sizes? It is better to consider the size up than down.
What People Usually Ask

FAQs

Which finger should I measure for an astrological gemstone ring?

There's no fixed answer here; it changes with the stone and the planet behind it. Whatever finger your astrologer suggests, that's the one you measure to wear the gemstone.

What if I'm stuck between two sizes?

Pick the bigger one. Shrinking a loose ring down later is easy, but stretching a tight one is harder. It is better to add a little extra space, as it just feels better on the hand anyway.

Does my ring size change over time?

Yes, it can. Your weight, the weather, your age, and even what time of day it is — all of it can make your finger size go up or down slightly. If you haven't measured in over a year, do it before you place an order.

Can MyRatna resize a ring after I receive it?

Yes, we can help with that. However, it depends on if you need it bigger or smaller, so reach out to us once your ring arrives and we'll guide you from there.

Should I wear it on my left hand or my right hand?

Your astrologer decides this based on your birth chart and the gemstone they recommend for you. There is no single rule that says you must wear it on your left or right hand.
