How to Wear Rudraksha in Neck for First Time

Wearing rudraksha around the neck is one of easiest and most powerful ways to get its spiritual and healing help. In Hindu belief, Rudraksha beads are linked with Lord Shiva. People believe these beads carry calm and positive energy. When the beads touch your skin, they slowly connect with your body and mind and help you feel peaceful, focused and safe from negative energy.

Many people wear rudraksha, but some do not follow correct way. Because of this, they may not get full benefits. There are some small and simple steps that you should follow. When you wear it properly and with respect, it works better and stays good for a long time. Let us understand everything step by step in very easy words.

Preparing the Rudraksha Before First Use

Before you wear your rudraksha for the first time, you should clean and prepare it. This step is important because it removes dirt and negative energy from bead. It also helps to activate natural power of the rudraksha.

First, keep rudraksha beads in pure ghee for one full day. Leave it for about twenty four hours. After that, wash beads gently with clean water. Then place them in fresh milk for another twenty-four hours. This old and traditional method is used by many people to clean and energize beads in a natural way.

After this process, wash them again with water and dry them with a soft cloth. If you have sandalwood paste or holy water, you can apply a little. Many people also chant “Om Namah Shivaya” at this time. Chanting helps create a calm and positive feeling.

How to String Rudraksha for Wearing on Neck

After cleaning, you need to string the beads properly. Good stringing keeps the beads safe and also helps them touch your skin directly.

You can use a simple cotton thread, silk thread, or a chain made of copper, silver, or gold. Cotton and silk threads are soft and comfortable, so many people prefer them for daily use. They feel light and easy on neck. If you want to wear a full mala, you can use one hundred and eight beads with one extra guru bead. This number is considered very special and holy in prayer and meditation.

Make sure mala is not too tight and not too loose. It should sit softly and comfortably around your neck.

Correct Way to Wear Rudraksha on the Neck

Most important rule is very simple. Rudraksha should touch your skin directly. Do not wear it over clothes. When it touches your skin, energy of bead flows better into your body.

You can wear a full mala, or you can wear a single bead as a pendant. Some people also wear a small group of beads. Any style is fine as long as it rests naturally on your neck or chest. Many people wear it the whole day and even during sleep because they want continuous peace and protection.

Best Time to Start Wearing Rudraksha

You can start wearing Rudraksha on any day, but some days are believed to be more special. Monday is considered very good because it is linked with Lord Shiva. Mahashivratri or any good and holy day is also perfect.

Morning time after bath is the best time to wear it for first time. After bathing, sit quietly for a few minutes. Hold mala in your hands and chant “Om Namah Shivaya” or your own prayer a few times. Then wear it calmly and with respect. This helps you feel connected to rudraksha.

How Many Rudraksha to Wear in Neck

You can wear different numbers of rudraksha beads on your neck based on your comfort and need. A traditional rudraksha mala usually has 108+1 beads, which is considered very sacred and powerful for spiritual practice, but it can feel heavy for daily use. If you want something lighter, you can wear 54+1 or 27+1 beads, which are easy to carry and still give good positive effects. You can also wear just one rudraksha bead as a pendant for protection and peace. Most important thing is not number of beads, but that rudraksha should touch your skin directly be kept clean and be worn with faith and respect.

Daily Care and Maintenance

Rudraksha does not need heavy care but a little care is important. Clean it sometimes with plain water to remove dust and sweat. If the beads look dry, you can rub a small amount of mustard oil or ghee. This keeps them soft and prevents cracks.

When you are not wearing the mala for many days, keep it in a clean cloth or a wooden box. Do not throw it anywhere carelessly. Always treat it like a sacred and special item.

Things to Avoid While Wearing Rudraksha

There are some situations where you should remove rudraksha for some time. Soap, shampoo and chemical water can damage beads. Swimming pool water is also not good because it has chemicals.

It is also better not to wear it during drinking alcohol, using harmful substances, or going to negative places like funerals. Such environments are not considered pure and may disturb the energy of beads. If you remove it, keep it safely and wear it again after cleaning yourself.

Wearing Rudraksha While Sleeping or Bathing

You can wear rudraksha while sleeping. Many people do this because they feel calm and protected at night. It does not cause any problem.

Bathing is also fine if you use only clean water. But avoid soap, shampoo, or harsh chemicals touching the beads. Natural or cold water is always better.

Important Spiritual Tips

Your rudraksha is personal, so do not share it with others. Over time, it connects with your body and energy. If someone else uses it, this connection may break.

Always wear it with faith and a clean heart. Good thoughts and positive feelings help the rudraksha work better. If the thread breaks naturally, do not worry. Simply string it again with a new thread and wear it back.

Final Words

Wearing rudraksha on neck is very easy when you follow the right steps. Clean beads properly, string them well, make sure they touch your skin, say a small prayer and wear them daily with care and respect. When you follow these simple rules, you can feel more peace, focus and positivity in your life.
