Tourmaline (Turmali/तुरमली)

Nicknamed the ‘Rainbow Gemstone’ after the incredibly myriad colours they are found in, the Tourmaline Gemstone family ranges from whites and blacks to greens, pinks, blues, oranges and yellow hues among other vivid varieties. Tourmaline derives its name from the ancient Sinhalese language of Sri Lanka that is spoken to date. It may originate from the word ‘tourmali ’ which means – ‘precious mixed colour gem’ or ’turamali’ meaning – ‘something small taken from the earth’. The most sought-after varieties of the Tourmaline Gemstone include Paraiba Tourmaline, Indicolite, Chrome Tourmaline and Rubellite. Tourmaline has been used by shamans to heal and enlighten. It fosters compassion, cool-headedness, and attracts money, friendship and helps ground one to one’s roots.
